The ant is one of Earth’s most successful insects. And the recipe for its success is simple; an unwavering cooperation.
With the amount of different ant species reaching more than 10.000, one can argue that there is great variation within the Formicidae family. The life of one ant may seem simple, but with collective force they have conquered almost every piece of landmass known to man. The king of insects (queen might be more apropriate of a term here) is truly one of nature’s most fascinating evolutionary inventions.
Did you know? Ants can protect colonies of aphids in exchange for their sweet honeydew.
