Care sheets for ant species
There are loads of interesting ant species that can be kept at home in a formicarium – and it doesn’t have to be difficult. Let’s have a look at some of them!
Lasius niger, or the black garden ant, is a very easy species to keep. They are survivors and can handle harsh environments and situations. Each colony has got a single queen and can grow into tens of thousands of workers.
Difficulty: Very easy
Myrmica rubra, or the European Fire Ant, is a semi difficult species to keep but it is a very interesting one. They form large colonies with multiple queens and require a lot of protein along with good humidity levels.
