i dont now what ishould use to hous my queen when the colony gets biger

I prefer hydrostone, but i don't think you can get that. My second choice would be a plaster nest.

It isn't very easy coping with 10+ ant colonies who need 20 crickets every day!

im not really that type i like building them out of sandwich cantaners with tubes to difrent sandwich cantaners.

That would work too, the only problem I would have is keeping the containers humid.

Connect glass jars by drilling holes in the sides and add tubes.
Thats more difficult and im not sure it will work...

I think that would be harder to make, as you have to get glass jars with lids, and drill through through the glass and connect with tubes.

yeah it would be hard but that sandwich cantar is way biger its 5 inches deep

yep us paper towl floor it also adds to a hiding spot for the ants

Thats the problem, adding insects to the paper towel may grow mold, if not dangerous bacteria will and it may be harmful to your ants. Causing you to change the paper towel weekly. This will cause lots of stress and you may lose some eggs.

The ants will bring pieces of insects to feed the larvae.

You need plaster of paris, flour, salt, cold water, and a suitible container to make the nest in.

That will work, but you can get plaster of paris at lowes, im not sure if you have this store in Canada though...

Well, that's pretty much the same thing, but a real basin requires a formicarium (Plaster/hydrostone nest)

i got another idea my cousin has a sandwich box wich has only a little bit of moist cotton he used this for 5 of his colonys each lived a year because he let them go.
