Solenopsis invicta

6-10-08
I managed to capture another Solenopsis invicta queen ant after a heavy thunderstorm
around 5 pm. She is now in a test tube and has laid around 20 eggs already.
Hopefully she'll live to produce a strong and sucessful colony.
I'll keep you guys udated! Smiling Smiling Smiling

Her number of eggs is now around 50, I put a fruitfly in her tube and she is eating it at the moment, hopefully that will boost the number of eggs she will lay Cool

She is dead...

She is dead.. Sad
The heat mat I had her on had somehow overheated and cooked her. Shocked
I guess this journal ends here.
R.I.P. fire ant queen...

It isn't very easy coping with 10+ ant colonies who need 20 crickets every day!
Im just glad I have a colony of 500 crickets Smiling
